Three positive things, Mark 2
Sep. 14th, 2014 06:06 pm1. DH and I went for a drive today, is as our wont when there's nothing else pressing. We drove out to explore the area around Cavanaugh Lake, northeast-ish of Camano Island. It's a really gorgeous area, miles and miles from any city or town of size. Homes, of course, ring the lakeshore, and vary from tiny adorable one-room affairs built merely as changing rooms for daytrips to the lake, and houses that obviously grew as families grew, more or less following the landscape up three steps to the new addition, and down five to the even newer one--charming, to my mind. And there are homes that were planned, fitted in among the trees, with as few as possible cut and cleared so the house is sheltered in bad weather, but sunlight filters down on good days. Comfortable, sturdy, with some surprising whimsy here and there. Inevitably, there are also the megalithic showplaces, lot scraped bare of trees, glass walls facing the lake, house looming over the neighbors and raising property taxes by merely existing. Most driveways have a family name, or the house or the enclave the drive leads to bears a name. There were both an "Uncle Dan's Cabin" and a (hand to dog) "Uncle Tom's Cabin." Lots of Harbors and Rests and a Sanctuary or two. And one that boggled and delighted me--"Ackles' Alley." I know, wrong lake, wrong state. But for a second there, it was exciting! (There is also a Jensen Road that we take occasionally to get from here to there. It always makes me smile)
2. My recent mail order of dvds arrived yesterday, including Spartacus: Blood and Sand, with BTS and interviews and other goodies, and Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, also with the peripherals. Having recently watched B&S on SyFy, I want the uncut version, and I'm fannishly curious about the actors (and yes, I know about Andy. So sad) and their other artistic endeavors.
3. Popsicles! In this instance, grape-flavored. Yummy sugary artificially flavored drippy icy phallic-shaped edibles. Mmmm, give me more of those!
