small observation

I grew up with yes ma'am and sir and no ma'am and sir, and I am familiar with every tone and nuance of the aforementioned. So Dean's level gaze and his tiny nod of acceptance was all, "You're gonna stay here and bait the wraith and give me time to get to your folks and save them. I get it. I'd do the same thing. I respect you for it. Now, I got this, you have my word. Yes, ma'am."

I love that, even though Missouri was so mean to Dean when they first met, he was *totally* respectful to her, always said yes ma'am and such, and even physically helped her at the house when she was worn out and shaky.

I love that Dean's default is respect, especially for older women, unless they prove to be, you know...evil or demons or trying to kill him, heh.

(I agree with this headcanon, is what i'm saying.)

It feels really classic old school, respect your elders, though in this case I wish he'd been the ornery, know it all Dean he usually is and bullied her into the Impala and saved her ass. I felt it was a wasted death of a really good character.

Dean's default reaction to woman, of any age, even when he's thinking about hitting on them, is actually respect. He's naturally a gentle soul, I love that about him.
