first sunny day in a while

I have photos to edit, articles to write, domestic tasks to accomplish--hell with it all. I can do all that on cloudy-rainy days.

We're out for a drive. Maybe there'll be some leaves left on the trees around Lake Cavanaugh. We've already spotted swans in a field or two, and a brand-new bald eagles' nest in one of the trees where the birds congregate along the riverside to watch for salmon swimming upstream to spawn. It's not even true winter yet, and the climate's been messed about enough that nature doesn't know if it's coming or going. Who knows what'll happen by the time spring actually does arrive.

Sunny day? We're taking it!

We didn't make it to the lake. We had an appointment to meet, and we lost time before we left because my lens fell out of my glasses frame. OH to the rescue, with the mini tool kit, the infinitesimal screwdrivers, and a minimum of swearing, and all was good again. It put us late, though, and we skipped the lake. Another day.

On the drive home, passing through a semi rural neighborhood, I noticed someone had propped a Captain America shield in an upstairs window. I started to mention it, but was distracted by a black hen on the shoulder, very close to traffic.

"Aw, they have a Captain America--CHICKEN!"

OH took a beat. Then, "...not a term used often in connection with Cap."
