What's in your bag?
Huge believer in shoulder bags, with adjustable strap or one long enough to wear crossbody. Dealing with two small children (one infant, one not yet walking to begin) taught me whatever else to have at least one hand free--to grab, to carry, to hoist myself and whatever freight up stairs, or cling to bannister to avoid ankle breakage or slipping on wet cobbled steps, etc. Lesson remains. Also, I hate new purses. Once I've found one that will serve I use it till it falls into either disrepair or disrepute, or both. At the moment it's a lightweight canvas messenger bag, black, with a print of curlicues on the flap. I can shove a lunch or a laptop in there, on top of the present contents.
