a favor, twitterinos
Mar. 30th, 2014 09:25 amI fervently wish those of you with twitter accounts who have even nominal contact with SPN writers and producers would ask them to drop "Carry On" from season finale openings this year and in any subsequent seasons. It's a different show now, with a different theme, about different characters, and the lyrics no longer apply, have absolutely no relevance, and no resonance with the present show. The writers have pounded away at the concept that there will never be any peace for these characters, either in this life or the next, so repeating that theme as a reward for 'carrying on' is bitterly taunting and meaningless. The anthem should have been dropped in season seven, if not season six.
They'd be better served putting the considerable useage fee toward some Wagnerian war-for-the-glory of it, long past hope or will operatic or heavy-metal theme of unalterable doom, and dropping entirely the notion or the empty promise of these characters ever earning any peace, at all.
