Compulsively saving document every time I think of it now, deep breath, change in position, up to pee, look up a definition, anything, compulsively. And the most recent time, I noticed the icon for "save" document is...a floppy disk.

Seriously? No, but really? I don't think my last three machines even had a floppy disk slot.

I just read what happened to you and it is a horrible, horrible feeling! I used to do that constantly when I first started out--screaming and crying over the keyboard. I'm compulsive about saving now but I still have the occasional accident. Like wiping out the edited version and saving the scrap file version. Oy.

Hugs are welcome. I was kind of proud of the tizzy I didn't have. It was super late, I was tired, there wasn't anything I could do at the time. I went to bed, telling myself, "Maybe it can be rescued, with system restore, or something. And if not, I can rewrite it. It's okay. Tantrums won't help." And then I calmly went to bed and could.not.get to sleep. For about an hour and a half. Woke up and felt *sick* instantly.

No recovery possible. I was so sick to my stomach every time I thought about trying to reconstruct, I just took the whole day away, didn't even try to work on it. And then late yesterday stuff started percolating, so I'm back at it. I haven't reconstructed, rather rewrote what I lost, and more. So, onward. With a tailwind, I should have a draft to turn in by deadline.

And how are you going? Your life being good to you at the moment?

Ach, it's not bad. I'm feeling like I might have to call fail on my BB. It depends on whether I can whip myself into shape tonight. So far, I have procrastinated like a Boss. *swings chain*

I can't even write and compulsively save it. I seriously have to try and dig up enough money to buy Microsoft Word. Word Online is really good except for the fact that it auto saves, and you need to be connected for it to work. Because my current modem is fritzing, the connection keeps dropping out. So I may have written a paragraph that hasn't autosaved yet and bam, it's gone. After writing the same thing over and over, I had to give up or put my fist through a wall.

I hardly have any of my BB done and I haven't got a stable connection. A friend is going to try and loan me her laptop for a few days to see if I can hammer out enough to get my draft in. She's going to try and drop it by tomorrow. If I don't get it done in time, I'm just going to have to live with it, save up to buy Word and replace the new modem that was stolen.

I hate thieves, and I hate being so damn broke. Grrr.

I know you'll get yours finished, and it will be spectacular! It's such a bitch that you lost all of that work though. After losing all of my art last xmas when my computer blew up, I know how utterly devastating it is to lose something you worked so hard on. Your cheer squad is here to encourage you xx
