The fridge and freezer did their jobs and we didn't lose any food from the power out. There were still a few lights out here and there, a few intersections working on manners and patience, and limbs and leaves down everywhere. DOT trucks had cut the tree across the highway from us off the power lines and short enough that if it falls the rest of the way it will miss both lines and road. They also cut and moved the two downed trees out of the street behind us, and they've been busy all over town doing the same thing. Pockets were still without power up the I-5 corridor from Everett to Blaine, with power restoration expected by midnight last night. It's rained all day Sunday and Monday, with the wind getting up again at night, but no more significant damage.

Unfortunately, almost none of the rain has made it over the mountains to where it's needed to help contain the fires. Our thoughts are still with the firefighters and residents there.

I had an appointment with the eye surgeon yesterday morning to discuss what the bloodwork taken on Thursday showed, and to assess any hopeful reduction in inflammation due to the round-the-clock steroids. The practice had also lost power, and one of their exam-treatment-surgical suites was still dark, and they had a backlog of patients waiting. After sitting an hour and change, we arranged to go back on Wednesday morning, continue to take the steroid drops meanwhile, and add in artificial tears for the dryness caused by the steroids. My drops schedule, worked out by OH, looks like this:

Steroid A: 9AM, 12N, 3PM, 6PM, 9PM, 12M

Steroid B: 11AM, 10PM

"tears": 1PM, 8PM

Also, thank heaven for OH, because I can't drop my own eyes, truly. I just see it coming and blink, can't help it. We're staying pretty close to home to keep on schedule.

The bruise in my left elbow from the dry stick is spectacular. There's just the faintest smudge on the back of my hand where she finally hit a gusher, and no soreness at all. Gold star for the phlebotomist!

I was at VanCon, so missed the excitement. Glad you didn't lose any food, that's such a pain.

What a schedule! You definitely couldn't go anywhere with that. Hope the news was satisfactory.

It was defnitely windy and raining part of the time, and I heard reports of some outages, but wasn't affected by anything.

I'm glad things are better, and that you're able to cut down on the meds. Speaking as someone who takes about 10 pills a day (down from about 14), plus 3 injections per day for my diabetes, I feel your pain. It's so annoying just trying to keep with things.

Dude! I even posted about VanCon, and you know I rarely post. I had a good time, but I was tormented by the woman beside me, aka Drunk Chick. She sat in front of me in Seattle, and it was terrible. She'd yell out things like "I'd climb you like a tree!" and "I'd ride a Winchester any day!" She also had a saucy little joke she told when getting autographs regarding "spit or swallow." She'd come in late to every panel, stumbling over everyone. She frequently couldn't find her seat or even her row. I thought that was the last I'd see of her, but on Friday morning, I saw her coming down my row and taking the seat next to me! Aaargh!

She's the person who was told Misha he should have had a gun at MinnCon, so he could have taken care of the muggers. I'm waiting to see if it shows up on any of the vids.

She talked constantly and was completely obnoxious. She also kept pouring OJ into her travel mug and stirring it up, and kept handing open OJ bottles to a woman down the row, telling her "it's OK, I have a lot more in my car." Needless to say, they both smelled like alcohol most of the time.

Another woman and I ratted her out to the Creation staff, who said they had been keeping an eye on her. She was so irritating that I decided to skip the concert, and JENSEN PLAYED! I'm slowly getting over it, but I'm still resentful. Apparently, the Creation folks pulled her out during the concert. I was told that as soon as the Creation staff saw Clif, they yanked her out. She was somewhat more subdued the next day, but still irksome.

She must have bought the ticket online. I can't remember who used to be on that side, but definitely not her. I changed my seat next year, but because the numbering is weird, I might still end up next to her.

So, those are my whines. Oh, and in my J2M photo op, my eyes are closed. Chris usually gives you a do-over in that case, but I don't think he did. I have to wait a couple of weeks till he posts everything to see if he actually did.

There were high points, and I met some very nice people, but in some ways it was my worst con. I'm trying to focus on the good stuff, but I've developed (continued, actually) a strong dislike for Drunk Chick. I need to go give myself another talking to now. :)

Wow, that's a really long complaint!

Karma's gonna get her!
