Comment with the title of one of my fics http://fufaraw.livejournal.com/98937.html (not that many, shouldn't be hard) and a number, and I will tell you:
1. What was my inspiration for this fic? How did it come to me?
2. What’s my favorite part of the fic?
3. What’s the part of the fic I’m most proud of?
4. What part of the fic was the hardest for me to write?
5. What part of the fic am I still dissatisfied with?
6. Who’s my favorite character in the fic?
7. Were there any major decisions I made about the fic that could have made it go a whole different direction?
8. Was there anything I only learned about the fic after I had finished it? (themes, motifs, symbolism, etc)
9. Did anyone in the fic surprise me by doing anything? If so, what?
10. If I had to sum up this fic in a sentence, what would it be?
11. If I were to rewrite this fic, what would I change?
12. Did any thing about this fic’s reception surprise me?
13. What were my beta’s major comments about the first draft of this fic?
14. If I were to write a sequel to this fic, what would it be about?
15. Any other question about the fic!

Date: 2015-10-28 07:11 pm (UTC)Oddly, what I'm most proud of Hostage for is some of the comments I've gotten from readers on the asexual spectrum who have thanked me for a character they relate to. Those are nice to read.
I would like to have spent a bit more time and care on Jensen observing Jared in his own element at home. Deadline was nipping at my heels, and I rushed a little more than I'd planned. Though, more detail might have slowed down the narrative. It's probably just as well the way it turned out.
Thanks for the questions! (and I hope you enjoy More Than Ever)

Date: 2015-10-29 05:39 pm (UTC)Inspiration...the years I felt distanced and alienated from the rest of the world, before I learned about asexuality, and that I was just a different 'normal'. I wanted to share my experience as an asexual in a world of sexually-oriented people, that an asexual life is just as amazing and valid, that there can be alternative relationships to sexual partners, that asexuals are just people who love and who can be loved, just differently than sexually-oriented people. And I wanted to retell the "Sheik and his Slave" trope from that point of view.
The major decision I made that changed the story, I believe, for the better, was that I started writing purely from Jared's POV. The majority of the story is still in his POV, but I think Jensen's POV and even that of the other omegas, of Vicki, and of the alpha and beta guards, helped expand both the story and the world it's set in. At least I hope so.
Thank you for the questions!

Date: 2015-11-01 08:29 pm (UTC)And what I learned happened just before I finished it, not after, when I suddenly realized the whole story was scenes strung like beads on the thread of Jared's flashbacks. He was still dreaming of that day, with different details and hoping for a different outcome, only to reach the unavoidable truth each time.
I feel like I sort of evaded both questions--not on purpose, though! Thanks for the questions.
