This is my town yesterday, with smoke from the wildfires


























This morning I woke up to the sound of thunder--and rain!  My weather map shows the rain isn't reaching to Seattle or Portland--I'd love to share, they need it as much as we do. But I have to rejoice in having rain at all.

Oh, that is horrifying. So much fire and smoke - no good for anyone. Thank goodness weather has halted it for you. I'll take the wins where we can get them right now and you being safe is definitely a win. Curl up cosy with a nice cup of tea and something to read.
I have been trying to avoid the news in general the last week, it feels so hopeless - so many huge and awful events all at once.

A week ago, looking out across a similar vista where I live, you would have seen very little, the smoke was so thick. I am far enough away from the Montana fires that a cool front from Canada has pushed the smoke away temporarily, but they promise it will return this weekend, thick as ever.

And Montana has no hope of rain for days...

I'm so sorry. Both Montana and Idaho just look hellish on the map. You know, we don't usually see the sun between November and February for the rain. I sure wish we could borrow on some of that now, all over the west/PNW, to help with the fires and the smoke. Would cut down on spring mudslides, too.
