there's a reason for that...

I have been head down and oblivious to everything but the terrible heat (we have no shade on the front of the house--full sun, from dawn till mid-afternoon. And no AC. We cook) in the last weeks of making deadline. So when I emerged from the letdown and fatigue state, I thought it was just taking it more out of me because of the heat. I tweaked my knee, making it really difficult to walk. Imagine yourself stranded in the middle of the room with no furniture to lean on, unsure if the next step is going to hurt badly enough to fell you, calculating the angle of knee and ankle for best support and least tweakage and pain, and hitching with half-sobs toward the nearest chair, table, wall, regardless if it's in the direction you need to go or not. And then, gentle readers imagine a stealthily growing all-over ache, and top it off with the new fun fact that everything you eat exits at high speed, and with high drama. So, fatigue, heat prostration, yeah?
Come to find out there's a "summer flu" going 'round, it usually takes about five days to get over it. So, going from four days of the BRAT diet, wandering woosily from bed to loo and maybe to the couch to gaze blearily at the tv before you drop off to sleep where you sit, and back to bed again, on the fifth day I find out, no, I'm not dying, it's FLU, and breakfast, rice cake and applesauce, stays with me. Gentlefolk, I am on the mend! And I'm pretty excited about that. Odd, what you just accept when your health is compromised anyway.
