Dammit. Ever since I saw Jared and Jensen's Nerd HQ, the neeeeed has been growing in me to find my old DVD of The Saint and watch it. Curse you, Jensen Ackles, for that impression! And curse you too, Jared Padalecki, for instigating it!

Actually, whatever his drawbacks, I've always been a Kilmer fan, and I loved The Saint (Karate Kid's girlfriend discovers cold fusion!). So, not really a hardship, except for sifting through boxes trying to find the DVD. Maybe I'll just go Netflix streaming, if they have it.

I haven't watched the the Nerd HQ yet, but it's on my agenda. I used to be obsessed with Val Kilmer, especially when he was young and pretty, but once his head started getting giant (for realsies), he lost most of his charm for me. Why do some men get gigantor heads?

I have no idea. I just think of him perennially stuck in Top Gun, Real Genius, Tombstone, and of course, my personal favorite, Madmartigan. He makes me happy there!

Hmm, I've never heard of that last one. I'll have to look it up.

Madmartigan was the character Kilmer played in Ron Howard's fantasy, Willow. He's a buckler of the very finest swash, and great fun to watch.

He was a very pretty boy, wasn't he? I especially like Real Genius, even if it is kinda dumb.

Our sons and I quoted that movie extensively--S and I still do.

"Ice is nice! How does it feel to be frozen!?"

"I passed! But I failed!"

"Well, then, I'm happy and sad for you."

"I was just sanding my floors."

"...are those they?"

And many many more. But the primary one: "It's a moral imperative."

Nothin' dumb about Real Genius, except the clothes, in retrospect. But even they were bitchin' at the time! It's one of my never-fail feelgood flicks. ;o)
