why is it never easy?

I have, um...three-ish weeks to decide whether I'm going to sign up for BB.

There is at least one, and probably two timestamps to come in the More Than verse, but there isn't enough story there for another 20K words. Really.

Spitballing story ideas the other night with meus_venator, we *may* have come up with an idea that *may* have possibilities. *Maybe*. I know myself well enough to know that when the start gun goes off, I'll want to run, just like an old racehorse. But truthfully, I left it late last year. I was grateful for an August posting date, and it was touch and go whether I'd make even that late date.

Knuckled down over the laptop, I missed a lot of spring and summer while I dithered, false-starting, deleting pages of words and starting over, hating the characters, hating the stupid awful difficult premise, and whothehell ever thought I could write that, anyway? Whothehell even would want to *read* that? That's not an experience I want to repeat.

But. I think I may have stumbled over a story that appeals to me. I have no idea if anybody else will have the slightest interest, but I'm intrigued, my muse is nearly engaged.

I don't think I'm going to be able to sit this one out, after all.

I always say to go ahead and sign up for the challenges that look interesting for you (especially the major ones like BB) and hope that you get inspired. There's no penalty for not turning in a draft, so why not?

(nods) That was sort of my thinking, as well. Nobody but me is going to notice if I slink away without actually producing a fic, right? "It's okay to fail! Really!"

From here it just seems their story is done, unless I want to write about the second generation, and I don't, really. A few loose ends to tie up, and everybody lives reasonably content afterward.

No peeking? 'Cause it's only half-baked, and I'm superstitious about venting the energy before the deed is done.

I'm the opposite . . . I'm like, GUYS WHERE SHOULD I GO, SO MANY DECISIONS!! I need people to tell me what to do and then I do my best to get the job done. I have my usual group of five that I go to and we come up with crazy stuff.

I asked why "no peeking", but you answered my question.

I'm really excited for you to start a new story. It's like Xmas all over again.

I wouldn't know where else you could go with MTV. You put Jared through a LOT. You were evil. YEah, it wasn't the happiest of endings but I loved it just as you left it. So much in life is flawed and ambiguous. But you didn't snuff out hope. So it works.

I'm torn between which to offer. I'll probably sign up to write, and see if I can come up with a draft. If I also want to do art, I can pinch hit or do second round claims.

Hmm... This may be the year I write RPF or SPN AU.

I had *no* intention of even trying this year, and then just in conversation, this little inkling sort of expanded. I *kept* thinking of possibilities, and then suddenly it *had* to be written.

It won't hurt to try! No harm will come if you don't make the deadline, so I say give it a shot! I'm anxious to see what's new in your wheelhouse. You are incredibly talented and imaginative. Whatever you have to offer is sure to be something I want to read!

And just the time challenge is something that intrigues you, I know. Let it pull you through the winter. :)

Oh thank you! You make me blush. It does look like my mind's made up to at least sign up. If I don't get a draft done in time, I can always post it later.
