Oh, that's so easy--What Was Lost. The whole thing would be filmed just with ambient sound, no actual dialog, until the last scene. I saw it cinematically before and as I was writing it, and I could scout locations (some I actually already know) and frame shots myself for it. Finding music would take some help, but I know how I want it to feel from scene to scene. It's the smallest, perhaps, in both story scope and word count, but it would be the one I'd film.

It would never ever happen, but I could tell so much with camera angles, and focus and perspective changes, invest it with so much mood and the processing of emotion, the evolution of change, the admission and ache of having been forced to deny his emotions. And on the other hand, the aching solitariness of experiencing grief alone, and finally the meeting and resolution. Damn, it would be so *pretty*!

Oh that's easy--BIC. Get your butt in the chair every day. Best if you can manage it at the same time, give it a decent amount of time before you close the file and move on with your day. But the thing is, if the word fairy does meander by, you can mug her faster if your butt's in the chair, file open, fingers limber and ready to go. *G*

Oh now, that's hard. I'm a mouthy bitch, and there's so much opinion essay, personal journaling, letters to friends, lengthy emails, all containing magnificent, towering, attenuated rants in which I take much personal glee, that I simply don't have decent access to.

Something recent--oh, I know. Will my response to a nasty serial bully's review recieved by a friend and colleague do?

Hmm, I don't think so? I've done small and intimate, I've done gen, I've done angry global sociopolitical crusade, I've done high melodrama, and schmoop. Pretty much I get mugged by stuff that wants me to write it, and I don't have much choice in that, really.

I can think of a couple of things I *don't* want to tackle, but unless an irresistible prompt, or self-prompt, comes along, I don't think there's anything I'm jonesing to write. Er, how about you?

Can you imagine what worlds and wonders we'd never have had the opportunity to read had people listened to that advice? It would be a shallow and pretty boring reading pool, even if everybody in the world wrote, if we only wrote what we know, right?

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what a trope is, so I'm just going to tell you what I feel I can't--don't want to--attempt to write, and that's het.

I haven't examined my reasons too closely, but I feel pretty sure I'd never tackle a het fic.

Hmmm. I've written both, and I think they both have their place. You know my kinks--and lack of--pretty well, so you know there has to be a reason in the story for whatever kind of sex there is. For me, the sex is there to make or emphasize a point in the plot. Which is so boring and unsexy and not the enjoyment of sex, and of kink, that most readers, I expect, are looking for. But I tend to write plot without porn, rather than the other way 'round.
