Countdown to S10, day six. Season six
Oct. 3rd, 2014 07:54 pmOh, how anxious I was for the season to start, to learn what that enigmatic glimpse of Sam meant at the end of Swan Song, standing outside Lisa's house in the dark and watching Dean inside, in the light, yet so broken and alone--and the utter lack of affect Sam showed.
I loved how hard Dean was trying, how well he was succeeding in places, with Lisa, and with Ben, with gainful, regular employment. And also how obviously he wasn't doing well, how his background kept him alert and checking safeguards, his not sleeping, his drinking.
The reunion, when it came, wasn't the emotional pitch either Dean or we had expected. Something was obviously off, and it would take time to find out exactly what. Until then, despite the distinct tinge of Something Not Right, and the puzzle it presented, I loved the hell out of Soulless Sam (forgive the pun).

And poor, puzzled Dean--

It took Dean going to Dr. Freddie Kruger for a brief death experience so he could strike a bargain for Death to collect Sam's soul from the cage and put it back into Sam. Dean's part of the bargain was to do Death's job for a day--something he found difficult to do. But the bargain was struck.
Sam, however, didn't want his soul back. Aside from the fact it was shredded by Lucifer's attentions in the cage, freedom from the accompanying moral and ethical components the soul held was something Sam wanted to keep. But Dean prevailed, and Death retrieved the soul, put it back into Sam, and built a "wall" to keep the worst of Sam's hell-memories from coming through. "Don't scratch the wall."

As good as it was to have sympathetic, caring Sam back. I did sort of miss Soulless. He was fun!
There were so many wonderful episodes in Season six. It was a season I enjoyed, very much.

I adore RoboSam. I know it could never work for a lot of reasons, but I'd love to see RoboSam with DemonDean. RIght? Right?
