I hate waiting

I love the Other Human, I do. Even when he plops in front of the teevee all day watching football.

Actually, we have a new neighbor across the street. She seems a nice person, but apparently is hard of hearing. Her television is on the opposite wall of her front room--we can see it when both sets of blinds are open, and of course the speakers face the window, and us. And she runs it ALL THE TIME when she's home, and I can hear the rumble. I've started keeping music on just to mask the murmur. It's not loud, and I feel morally inferior for failing to ignore it, but it's *there*, like dire muttering in the background, like demons are going to break through the walls and floor and enter this dimension. Sorry, But that's always bubbling away in my backbrain because *it never ever stops* as long as her car is here. I'd rather try to ignore the yappy little dog with separation anxiety down the street. So really, OH watching football all day is helping  to mask the murmurmurmurmurmumbletymurmurmurmurmurdermurdermurder...

Um. Yes. But basically, I'm just waiting til they both go to bed and I can watch the TorCon vids. Don't mind me, I'll just be over in the corner. Rocking.

Oooh I know what you are going through! My downstairs neighbor likes her music really, reallly, realllllly loud and very early! GGGGRRRRRRRR!

Oh, you too! I'm so sorry. Builders should soundproof. Or we need atmospheric mute buttons, or something.

Oh, baby, I feel your pain, I really do. Next month, when I go home, I will once again be treated to my mom cranking up Fox "News" Network, sports channels, sappy movies, and Dancing/Singing/Idoling/whatever so loud that I can't hear the television in my room, with the door closed. She is hard of hearing, and refuses to get a hearing aid, even when I offer to pay for it, because "people will see." Like they can't tell she's hard of hearing when they have to repeat things at least 3 times; sometimes she doesn't even know they've said something.

I'm luckier than you are, though. At least I can go in while she's sleeping and turn down the volume. She never even notices. Poor you.

H has talked to her, and says she seems nice. I haven't had a chance to introduce myself, but I'm going to have to pull up my socks and say hi. And then, "Can I help you rearrange your living room so the tv speakers point at the house next door--which is empty, right now?"

Yeah. Awkward.

But not as bad as a relative, I'll give you that!

Yes, my mom gets pretty bent out of shape. Nicely asking her to turn it down somehow turns into "you never," "you always," "I did the best I could," (which was not very good, but that's a story for another day). I'm not sure why most other people think I'm so nice (at least, they say so) and she thinks I'm so mean. Sigh....
