But Tim Omundson was incredibly compelling as Cain. I had a brief, transitory thought of Gallivant as he stood waiting, and then he moved, spoke, and it was all Cain.

It has been *seasons* since I actually wanted to rewatch, but there are scenes from this one that will have to be viewed again. The building, shifting foundation of Sam for Dean, Dean's trying to find solid footing before he went to meet Cain. The incredible tension and chemistry between Dean and Cain, the electricity, the connection between them that went so far beyond lines and action. And the connection between Sam when Dean finally stumbled, afterward.

The concern and a rarer connection between Cas and Sam, and the controlled emotion of Sam--"Dean's in trouble."

This is why I've always watched this show, the fizz and crackle of emotion between these characters. It's been missing for a very long time. They almost hit it with "I'm proud of us," but even that rang hollow--they couldn't quite make me care.

This episode? I care. I care about all of them. Even lost Cain.

On the other hand, I remembered something I'd forgotten to do and left the room during Crowley and Rowena's scene and didn't even pause the feed. I didn't feel I missed anything. I watch on delay so I can FF through commercials. Apparently, Crowley scenes are my new snacks and pee breaks.

I am so with you on being such a long time since I've felt this way about an episode. I so wanted Cain to survive just so that there'd be a chance we'd get more of him because I think Timothy is amazing as Cain, and because I wanted there to be some hope. But alas, it wasn't to be.

I found myself rather bored during the Crowley and Rowena scenes, sadly they left me kind of flat, so yes, pee breaks and putting on a pot of coffee it is if there are going to be regular occurrences.

I completely agree, I can't wait for the door to hit Rowena on the ass on the way out. BORING. Whiney and boring, everything that comes out of her mouth diminishes my respect for Crowley and he has always been such and enigmatic, savvy character.
And yes, Cain was amazing. I am so with you on not wanting TO to die. He has been the strongest guest appearance so far this year.

And other than the boring Rowena scene Crowley and Castiel were finally used as a benefit rather than a bore. I want 80-90% boys in my show and for those guys to serve the boys story not the other way around.

Still not Kripke quality, not even Sera quality but one of the best episodes, right beside 10.02, with Demon!Dean or the musical, which I quite adored, but I like musicals. Of course that all my opinion.

But yeah nice to have a better episode.

I was squeaking the entire episode. And I find Timothy unbelievably hot.

Agree with pretty much all of the above. I will say, though, that I can find something in almost every episode that I don't mind rewatching. I just FF through the stuff I don't like.

I've been very happy this season. But could someone please tell me--what the hell is Rowena doing here? She adds nothing. I could see Crowley maybe having mother issues, but not with this character. Total waste of time.

On the other hand, TO has been a delight.
