Ten Day Meme
Feb. 27th, 2015 08:33 pmDay Four: seven fears/phobias
1. Black windows. If it's dark outside, pull the curtains or shades or blinds. Who knows what's looking in?
2. Cracked open doors. Open it or close it. Who knows what's lurking in the dark and peering through the crack?
3. I used to be fond of curling into small spaces. Now I just find it really hard to breathe*
4. Both knees and shoulders have dislocated multiple times. I dread it happening again.
5. I don't like snakes I don't know are not poisonous
6. I don't like spiders on me I don't know aren't poisonous
7. I don't like being touched by people who don't know me
*I've been woken twice from a sound sleep by a dream.
1. climbing steep stairs into the dark through a passage that kept narrowing and I couldn't see ahead
2. swimming underwater from air pocket to air pocket--in the dark
I think both were probably apnea-induced. Still, waking gasping for breath, no fun.

Date: 2015-02-28 04:58 am (UTC)I was also a child insomniac. Every night, and I mean every night, it took me at least 2 hours to fall asleep, because I was filled with dread at the thought of crossing the street, dislocating my knee, and being run over, or something equally horrific. I finally outgrew it early in my college years.
I still can't watch a movie where someone's knees are broken, or a sporting event where something happens to a player's knees. I literally have to cover my mouth and will the bile back down.
After 4 knee surgeries, my orthopedic surgeon is just waiting for me to raise my hand and say "I'd like those replacements now, please." Just trying to delay as long as possible. Those puppies don't last forever, and 60 isn't that old.
Have I hijacked your post? Sorry!
I also agree with your second #2. Every time I see someone doing that in a movie, it makes me ill.
