TV Meme
1. Earliest show you remember getting into.
How about first fannish show? CBS' Beauty and the Beast, with Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman as the Beast.
2. First anime watched
Evangelion
3. A show you've been meaning to finish.
There's two, both of which have been accomplished, thanks to Netflix--X Files and Gilmore Girls
4. Two shows you've abandoned.
X-Files and CSI
5. A series you're currently watching.
Orphan Black, and SPN, of course (yes, still)
6. A show you're sad is over
I'm really missing Gilmore Girls
7. Favorite series finale
Hmm, Angel, I think. There was much more story to tell, and the last season limped a little, but damn, they went out with a bang.
8. A series finale you would change
Dark Angel--they tried, but there needed to be more resolution.
9. Worst TV program you've ever seen.
Are we counting TV preachers, here? Oh, how's about The 700 Club? Watched purely for the trainwreck effect.
10. A show that shouldn't have been cancelled.
Firefly forever! And, Almost Human. Bad call, man, for both of them.
11. A show that needs to end
I'm coming up blank. I haven't stuck with any show long enough for me to want to shoot it. SPN's edging into that territory, occasionally.
12. Favorite cartoon
Can't choose--Avatar: The Last Airbender, Cowboy Bebop, Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit, Fullmetal Alchemist, Samurai Champloo, Samurai 7...(and oh, that really cute one that only had, like, 12 eps, and there're these twins who visit this planet, see, but one twin dies right away, which sucks for him, right? But then there are these feral teenagers and stuff, and hey, it wasn't that great a series, I can't ever remember the name of it but the theme song is really cute and you can dance to it?)
13. Favorite reboot
I can't think of one I liked better than the original. Most of them are crap.
14. A TV adaptation you'd like to see
They're already doing Mr. Norrell and Jonathan Strange.
15. Saddest TV moment
It's a tossup between the funeral scene in the Trash ep of Firefly, because of the cinematography--cast and crew were saying goodbye to the series, and the half-slomo filming set against Edmonson's dirge, Zoe's profile amid gently falling snowflakes--it was a powerfully sad moment, because fans knew the show was already cancelled when we watched. Second: the end scene of AHBL1, Sam dying in Dean's arms, on their knees, in the mud. Very few lead characters ever *died* onscreen, unless the series was ending--and we weren't sure at that point that it *wasn't* ending--and the suspense all the way through the ep from Sam's disappearance from the diner, the relief of rescue, only to have tragedy strike anyway at the last moment. The grief and loss was palpable. I couldn't watch that scene again for a long time. Vidders included it, and I'd have to look away. I still get a visceral kick when I watch it, which isn't often.
16. Most satisfying TV moment
There may have been others, that may have been more satisfying, but seeing Bobby in his heaven, and having him help his boys was pretty damn awesome.
17. A character you identify with
Sam, for his feelings of being bad and wrong, and Dean, for his feelings of trying to *fix* it, make it better, and his helplessness when he can't.
18. A character who reminds you of your friend
I'm drawing a blank, sorry.
19. Favorite talk show
Graham Norton
20. Sports or nah
I watch NFL with the Other Human, personally I can take it or leave it
21. A TV world you'd like to live in
A. Stars Hollow--because, happy! Also, I'd like to give Taylor his comeuppance, just once.
B. Firefly--space! with horses! Seriously, Firefly combined all the things I love about westerns--frontier, making do, improvising--with all the things I love about space yarns--living on the fringe, taking daring risks and having them pay off, making family, fighting with family, but being down for them no matter what.
