3. Perhaps surprisingly, my favorite fic to write is gen. Lots of angst, and some sort of resolution to reach. But I think you can pack a lot of emotions and character growth into gen.

15. The writing pleasure I'm most guilty about is sensory detail. I tend to get a little drunk on them in a scene and shortchange the narrative.

Very much agreed with gen. There are things you can explore there that would be a bit hard to fit in fic where the ship is the focus.

I also hear you on the sensory detail thing. I've been guilty of that myself on more than one occasion. Sometimes, it's just fun to let go and wallow in it, though.
