tea in the afternoon

Thrift shop china, the pot was $2.00, unmarked early 20th century American redware. The cream jug was a gift. Cream cheese and homemade raspberry-pomegranite preserves on half the rice cake, homemade lemon curd on the other.



Books, bears, tarot–Dreaming Way, Deviant Moon, Sun and Moon decks–and tea. The Peanut Gallery: Naomi Laight’s Georgiana, Steiff’s Snap-apart bear, assorted Steiff 10cm bears, one tiny artist’s bear, and Ralph, who started life as a keychain fob. Ralph and Timiny (Steiff, blue sweater) travel wherever I go, in a special pouch in my purse. The bears don’t care about tea, but they’re very fond of honey toast.

Yay! (Runs around hiding stray junk and dust buffalo) Come on over! We'll heat you some cider, or make hot chocolate. Or even coffee. Coffee doesn't *have* to be drunk out of rough-hewn hand-thrown pottery, just because that's how we drink it.

It's almost time to have another tea party at work. I always go to Value Village or some place and get the gaudiest cups I can. I think the best one has lots of flowers and gilt and sits on little feet.

Oh, I love the look of the ones on little feet. Unfortunately I'm such a klutz those are easy for me to knock over. But being the epitome of charm and grace that you are, you'll do fine!
