This looked like fun

1. Are you named after someone? - My middle name is spelled Arline, after my dad, Arlis. Funny story. His mom named him Lonzo, but he and another child got into the soapmaking lye, the other child died, and Dad's mom renamed him after the other child. True story.
2. When was the last time you cried? - Some tv commercial or other. I don't cry in real life.
3. Do you like your handwriting? - I love my handwriting--I was taught cursive, and practiced writing different ways: microscopically small, very round and vertical, with complicated, stylized capitals. I settled on a slanted style with simple, oversized capitals and loosely formed lowercase ys, and gs. It's part printing now--I never connect an 'a' mid-word with the letter before it, nor a lowercase 't'. I spent a lot of time handwriting memorial cards and hand addressing envelopes for the nonprofit I worked for--legible but distinctive and elegant, if I do say. Arthritis is rapidly stealing my handwriting, though. It's worth mentioning that both my parents were taught the Palmer method of writing in school, and both of them signed their names perfectly legibly and recogizably well after my Dad's Parkinson's and both parents' dementia left them incapable of remembering from beginning a word what they were writing by the end.
4. What is your favorite lunch meat? - Boar's Head Ovengold smoked turkey, sliced at #3 on the second cutter from the end.
5. Do you have any kids? - Two, one living
6. If you were another person, would you be friends with you? - I would certainly give it a try. Especially if I understood the necessity of turtling every now and then, and didn't get my panties in a wad at being "neglected."
7. Do you use sarcasm? - Never.
8. Do you still have your tonsils? - Yes.
9. Would you bungee? - Only if I was being pursued and jumping was my only possibility of escape.
10. What is your favorite cereal? - oatmeal. But back in the day it was Frosted Flakes or Honey Bunches of Oats.
11 Do you untie your shoes when you take them off? - that's a thing? People do that?
12. Do you think you’re strong? - Was gonna say oak and steel, and it's true. But both can be brittle, and I'm...flexible. Adaptable. Incorporate new levels of shit and keep going.
13. What is your favorite ice cream? - See, here's the thing. My dad would take us out for ice cream every Sunday and I got to choose the flavor of my one scoop. He thought I was angling for more ice cream when I asked for both chocolate and vanilla, but I'd have been happy with a half-scoop of each, it's the *combination* I love. So, Moose Tracks (IKR?) and Caramel Toffee Crunch.
14. What’s the first thing you notice about someone? - Somewhere in the first paragraph--or sentence, meeting someone new, I'll flip a pop culture ref. If they bounce it back, we're good.
15. Red or pink? - are there rules? Am I breaking a rule by qualifying every answer? No matter. I shy away from intense tastes, smells, colors, textures (I'm a delicate flower). Red sometimes scares me, but the thing is, I don't like pink. So...lower key red?
16. What is your least favorite thing about yourself? - choose your own adventure: timidity or inertia
17. What color pants and shoes are you wearing right now? - no shoes and grey pants.
18. What was the last thing you ate? - string cheese
19. What are you listening to right now? - the blessed fans keeping me cool.
20. If you were a crayon, what color would you be? - blue-green
21. What’s your favorite smell? - new-cut grass
22. Who was the last person you talked to on the phone? - pharmacist
23. What’s your favorite sport to watch? ice dancing, pairs. I miss school figures, actually.
24. What’s your real hair color? - brown
25. What’s your eye color? - grey
26. Do you wear contacts? - no
27. What’s your favorite food? - it used to be bread in all its glorious variations. Now, eggs, boiled, fried, scrambled, sunny side up, over easy, deviled....
28. Scary movie or happy ending? - happy ending, I'm fond of fantasy
29. Last movie you watched? - Cowboy Bebop
30. What color shirt are you wearing? - green
31. Summer or winter? - winter
32. Hugs or kisses? - hugs
33. What’s your favorite dessert? - before flour turned against me, cake. Now, ice cream.
34. What book are you reading? - I should be finishing the Raven Cycle, and the Cold Magic trilogy. But I'm reading ALL the Big Bangs! And spn_summergens!
35. What is your profile pic? - J2
36. What did you last watch on TV? - Holmes Makes it Right. Fixer Upper. House Hunters.
37. Favorite sound? - Wind in the trees, or grass moving in the wind. Birdsong.
38. Rolling Stones or Beatles? - Beatles
39. What is the farthest you’ve been from home? - Nurnberg
40. Do you have a special talent? - I'm really good at listening. I make safe space for someone to talk. I never share a secret without permission. I never judge. I rarely advise, just repeat back what I heard, and sometimes that's revelation enough for that person to decide what to do on their own.
41. Where were you born? - Somewhere in North Carolina--parents unknown, so location is indefinite.

Yes, my word--I'm forever describing boys as smelling like new-cut grass. I knew a boy who smelled like that--it was very nice. I always tried to sit next to him on the school bus. :D

"No one gets suspicious?"
"Well, be fair, Nate: you didn't."

Date: 2016-08-19 09:50 pm (UTC)I use Bob's Red Mill oats with a little local honey (supposed to help my allergies), ground flax seed (for hot flashes), cinnamon, walnuts and dried cranberries. Ginger sounds good. I'll have to try that.

Date: 2016-08-22 02:31 am (UTC)My magnificent sweary chain-smoking boss at the garden center gave me bright pink secatures for use at work; I blinked at her, because she was the least pink person I have ever known. She smiled and said "I know, kiddo, but this way the male staffers won't wander off with them." The safety vest my best friend wears while tromping through the forest is fluorescent pink for the same reason.
