DW FYI

When DW imports your LJ, if you ask it will bring your tags, all your posts, comments on those posts, and your flist. Each username on your subscribe/access list will connect to the *LJ* of that user through OpenID. As soon as you find out someone on your flist has a DW account, search on their username for "site and account" in the dropbox, and subscribe to their DW, and give them access to yours if you want to be mutual friends.

You aren't "friends" with anyone on your list at DW until you subscribe to their DW account and give them access to yours if you wish.

Just...FYI.

Also, I need to find out (1) if, and (B) how I can make a sticky post for my DW account. So far, no luck.

There should be a way to make a sticky at DW: see this (https://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse?faqid=199). Basically you need to first make a post and the you insert the URL of that post into Account settings > Display > ID or URLs of sticky entries. Or date the post into the future so it'll stay on top of your page.

I just discovered this too :/
I'm freaking out how to add pics to posts and the way their cut works is truly terrifying! I remember now why I deleted my original DW account in the first place :(

Okay, the cut is different, but once you get used to it, it's fine. Just remember to leave a blank space at the top of your post before you put in the cut, in case you want to add something before the cut. I forgot to do that, and haven't found a way to go back before the cut to add a sentence.

For pictures, well, DW won't let you upload from your hard drive. You'll need a hosting site--Flickr, photobucket, googlewhatever--any of them should work. You just need the pictures to have a URL so you can insert them into your posts. I have a Flickr account, and it's worked out pretty well. I also cheat and post pics on LJ first, "view image" and copy the URL. That works too, so long as there's an LJ.

Pretty sure for a sticky post, you just date it like 2020 or something, just like on LJ.
