siren song

We had a big blow last night, high winds, lashing rains, a cacaphony of windchimes, house flag flapping like sails fighting to escape their rigging. It wasn't as ferocious as the last two bouts, though, at least this time we didn't lose power. But all the roofs we can see (and probably ours as well) are festooned with blowdown cedar boughs, and there are trees down all over town. The baleful drone of the woodchipper parked two streets over has been unending since midmorning and shows no signs of stopping. I have images of Peter Stormare at the helm, shoving limb after limb into its voracious maw.

I need an aspirin for this headache.
